Upcoming Events

On Sunday, 23 April, at 11:00AM, we will be dedicating two new Military Memorial Markers
in honor of U.S. Army World War One Heroes: Lt. Colonel Charles W. Whittlesey and
Homing Pigeon Cher Ami, both assigned to the 1 st Battalion, 308th Infantry Regiment, 77th
Division, American Expeditionary Forces. This battalion was famously known as “The Lost
Battalion”.
In honor of them both, the members of The American Legion, VFW and AMVETS will be in
attendance as well as World War One re-enactors in full uniform. After the unveiling of these
markers, there will be a 21-Gun Salute. As a special tribute, our Veterans will fire one powder
charge from an 1861 Ten-Pounder Parrot Rifle (Cannon). Please be advised that these shots
will be loud and ear protection is highly recommended.
Please park in the cemetery where directed and walk over to our location in Section 4-(southeast
corner of the cemetery). ABOVE ALL, SAFETY IS JOB ONE. Please follow directions from
our Veterans. With their military discipline, they will be in command.

Thank you,
Cedar Grove Cemetery Association Trustees
